We are introducing language testing for students

Dear students,

You have probably already received the news that the Faculty of Arts MU is introducing compulsory language-level testing for students taking a required course in the joint faculty foundation in the Bachelor's degree (English/German/French/Spanish/Russian for Academic Purposes II) – at B2 level.

The purpose of surveying the language proficiency of our students is to provide feedback to enable us to recommend a course of action to achieve the desired entry level for enrolment in a selected compulsory subject within the common faculty foundation in case of insufficient language proficiency and to better target teaching according to the actual needs of our current students.

If you have not yet done so, please expect to be invited by the Language Centre at the Faculty of Arts MU to take this test to determine your language level in one of your chosen world languages. Testing usually occurs on Fridays from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in L11. The result of this test is a compulsory prerequisite for enrolling in one of the above-mentioned required courses of the Common Core.

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that the quality of students' language skills at the Faculty of Arts MU is a priority that the faculty management has been committed to since the beginning of its term of office. It is a prerequisite not only for good orientation in today's global world but also a necessity for the eventual study stay at a foreign university that awaits you during your study cycle. So please don't put this off – the sooner you know where you stand with your language competencies, the sooner you can start preparing for a new adventure beyond your alma mater.

Vice-dean for internationalization and information technologies
